Ticket in,
merged PR out

Side by side
Each tool does one part well. Pilot covers the path from ticket to merge.
Devin
The closest match: tickets to PRs, with CI fixes. It runs in Cognition's cloud and bills by plan or seat, plus credits. Pilot runs on your servers for one flat price.
Copilot cloud
Assign an issue and get a draft PR from GitHub's cloud. It cannot merge, and a session stops after 59 minutes. Pilot takes the ticket through to the merge.
OpenHands
Open source and self-hostable. It takes issues and opens PRs. Its docs do not cover CI fixes, merge rules or budget caps. Pilot ships all three.
CodeRabbit
A PR reviewer, not a builder. It reviews code; Pilot writes and ships it. Use both: CodeRabbit can review the PRs that Pilot opens.
Pi
A minimal terminal agent that you drive by prompt. No tracker, no PR and no CI loop. Pilot is the pipeline around the agent.
Hermes
A general personal agent with memory, used from chat. It codes through a GitHub skill, without CI watch or merge rules. Pilot is built for the backlog.
Right tool?
Pilot works best on clear, bounded tickets. Your team keeps the judgment calls.
Good fit
- CRUD endpoints and UI components
- Test coverage for existing code
- Documentation and README updates
- Bug fixes with clear steps to reproduce
- Dependency updates and security patches
- Simple database migrations
Not an architect
Pilot does not choose a database or an auth strategy. Those choices need your judgment.
Docs →Not a researcher
Pilot does not explore unknown problems. It works best where the pattern is known.
Docs →Not a security auditor
Auth, encryption and access control need careful human review, whoever writes them.
